Brenton Dunnington
Percussion Artist / Educator
Award-winning Marimba & Vibraphone Artist / Educator, Brenton Dunnington has been performing and teaching percussion for 25+ years.
He has collaborated with an array of Grammy, Academy, and Emmy Award-winning composers, artists and Multi-Platinum-selling musicians.
Brenton performs immersive sound baths, featuring warm, glowing vibraphone and resonant percussion. The music that Brenton performs is developed in accordance with a cross-section of scientific findings from peer-reviewed neuroscience studies and medical research from over 50 international universities, integrating the musical characteristics associated with stress reduction and calming the nervous system. These peaceful, restorative experiences calm the busy mind, guiding listeners into deep relaxation, stress reduction, and gentle nervous system recalibration. Unique performance settings include both large venues and intimate, serene spaces.
He has performed internationally, including in sold-out concerts at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, the ACT CITY Hamamatsu Concert Hall in Japan, and the New Orleans Arena.
Brenton studied marimba with Keiko Abe in Japan, and made his marimba concerto debut with orchestra at age 15. He was also the winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artists competition.
70+ new percussion works have been composed for Brenton over the years, from notable composers including Bruce Broughton and Leslie Howard. Brenton was also the founder of the Classical Marimba League, which was recognized by The New York Times for its contribution to inspiring the development of new music for the marimba, with participation from over 20 music conservatories internationally.
Given Brenton’s passion for helping young percussionists enjoy mallet percussion, learn faster, and have more fun, he offers online private & group lessons for middle & high school percussion students.
Brenton is a dedicated husband to his wife, flutist, Ann Dunnington.
